10 dead, one injured in Jigawa auto crash

At least 10 people died in an accident at Yanfari village in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State on Tuesday.

The spokesman for the state police command, Mr. Lawal Shiisu, confirmed the accident in a statement in Dutse.

He said a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number: HDJ 631 YDD, carrying 11 passengers from Kano to Hadejia and a trailer were involved in the crash.

The spokesman added that the bus hit the stationary trailer with registration number: RGN 180 ZC and somersaulted.

According to him, the driver of the bus and nine passengers died on the spot.

Shiisu said: “A police patrol team attached to Taura division raced to the scene and evacuated the corpses to Hadejia General Hospital for medical examinations.

“The doctor on call certified all the 10 passengers dead while one passenger was admitted at Majia Primary Health Care Centre and he is responding to treatment.”
