At least 17 students of an Almajiri School located in Kauran Namoda local government area of Zamfara State have lost their lives in a fire outbreak that engulfed their school on Tuesday night.

Security expert, Zagazola Makama who broke the news in a post he shared on X on Wednesday, said though the cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained, it lasted for over three hours before it could be brought under control.

“The tragic fire incident, which occurred on the night of Tuesday lasted for about three hours before it was brought under control,” he said.

“Several other students sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

“Eyewitnesses described the fire as devastating, noting that efforts to contain it were hampered by its intensity.

“Local authorities and emergency responders arrived at the scene to provide assistance, but the inferno had already caused severe casualties,” he added.
