Actress Omoni Oboli opens up on why she chose to stay out of her son’s marriage
Nollywood actress Omoni Oboli has explained why she chose to stay out of her son’s marriage despite feeling concerned as a mother and granny.
The thespian who opened up during her recent Dear Ife series podcast appearance said that she prefers to see things from other people’s viewpoints rather than only her own, including that of her daughter-in-law.
Additionally, she recalled that she married at age 21, the same age at which her daughter-in-law married her son and at that time, she was extremely stubborn for her age.

The mother of three also went on to say that boys ought to be allowed to go to their mothers and defend their spouses even when it feels inconvenient sometimes.
She said; ‘‘On a few occasions, my son has approached me and said, ‘Mum, Marelle doesn’t like that.’ I have had to correct myself and say, ‘Oh, I didn’t intend it that way.’ It’s also okay. Consequently, it is problematic in and of itself that your child is unable to approach you and tell you, “My wife doesn’t like this.”
“I think, first things first, people need to understand and realise that this is now another family. Yes, they are still a part of your family but they now have their own family,” Omoni Oboli opined.
