A’Ibom women protest against Sen. Natasha
A group of women in Akwa Ibom State have vowed to unleash ‘spiritual cane’ on the senator representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over her allegations of sexual harassment against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
The women who made the vow during a protest march in Uyo, the state capital in solidarity with Akpabio, said the allegation was a ploy to discredit and tarnish the image of their son, insisting that they would not allow a fellow woman to bring down the number three citizen of Nigeria.
The protesting women who marched around major streets in the city displayed placards with various inscriptions like ‘Number 3 man deserves respect, Natasha shows some,’ ‘Akwa Ibom women demand respect for our leaders,’ ‘Natasha, don’t embarrass us with your behaviour, ‘Respect for husbands is our tradition, Natasha,’ among others, while demanding an apology from the senator or risk their wrath.
The leader of the group, Mrs. Grace Mathias who claimed to be from Essien Udim local government area where Akpabio also hails from, while addressing journalists, said women from the state would not tolerate any disrespectful behaviour from anyone, including Sen. Natasha, against their elders.
Mathias noted that if Natasha continues with the allegations against Akpabio, they would pray to God to release “spiritual canes” that would put her to order.

“We want Natasha to leave our son alone; whenever she tries it again, the women will kneel and pray, and heaven will rise against her. She should stop messing up our son, who is well-trained in the ways of the Lord.
“Our son doesn’t disrespect women. Stop harassing our son and disrespecting him. We, the women of Akwa Ibom and Niger Delta are saying that, this should be the first and the last time you Natasha will be addressing our son in such a disrespectful manner. We are out here today to tell you, Natasha, that our son is so precious to us.
“If we hear about this again, we will go down on our knees to pray against you, and God Almighty will release the cane, and that cane will flog you.
”In this part of the country, we respect our men, we don’t disrespect them. So we want to tell you to stop harassing our son. Enough is enough.
“For plotting evil against our son, evil will return to you because you want to bring bad name to our son. No peace for the wicked. Your plan will not work in the life of our son.”
“No peace for the wicked, and for plotting evil against our son, evil will return to you because you want to bring a bad name to our son. Your plan will not work in the life of our son,” the women leader said.
