APC, PDP, five others to field candidates in Ondo local council election
At least seven political parties have been cleared to participate in the January 18 local government election in Ondo State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODSIEC), Mrs Bisi Lawani, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Akure.
Lawani said the parties were confirmed during the verification of candidates contesting for the positions of chairman and vice-chairman held at the commission’s headquarters on Monday in Akure.

She said: “The political parties set to participate in the election are the Action Alliance (AA), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), and Action People’s Party (APP).
“Others are New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
“This critical process conducted at the commission’s headquarters was aimed at ensuring that all candidates meet the eligibility requirements stipulated in the electoral guidelines.”
