Bandits abduct 46 in Zamfara town

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday night abducted at least 46 people in Gana town, Zamfara State.

Residents told Reuters that the bandits stormed the town on motorbikes at about 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and started shooting sporadically.

The victims, according to residents are mostly women and children.

The attackers also set fire to several buildings during the raid.

Zamfara is the hotbed of bandits’ activities in the North-West part of Nigeria with several people killed and hundreds of others abducted or displaced in the last six years.

The troops have recently declared war on the terrorists, including Turji Bello, who has gone into hiding.
