Bandits free abducted students, staff of Zamfara varsity after seven months
Bandits have finally released students and staff of the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara State.
The victims were abducted seven months ago by bandits.
The victims were kidnapped when the bandits attacked the institution in February and have been in captivity since then.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, who confirmed their news in a post via X on Monday, said the victims were released on Sunday.
He, however, refused to disclose if any ransom was paid for their release,

Zagazola said security forces played a pivotal role in securing the victims’ freedom.
He wrote: “The students of Federal University Gusau (FUG) and some staff members who were abducted seven months ago have regained their freedom from their captors.
“It was gathered that the students and staff were kidnapped during an attack by bandits in the Gusau area in February of this year.
“After spending an extended period in captivity, it has been confirmed that all the abducted individuals have returned in good health. Although details of how their release was secured remain unclear, security forces were said to have played a crucial role in their rescue.”
