Behold the futuristic driverless Rolls Royce
Rolls-Royce today debuted its vision for the next generation of luxury vehicles. The aptly-named Vision Next 100 (codenamed the 103EX) is complete with a seemingly endless number of thoughtful touches, and clever design innovations; it’s stylish and futuristic.
But the two-seated luxury car was missing two things worth noting. First, a steering wheel—or any controls whatsoever.
The cabin is roomy, stylish, and lacks any obvious control mechanism for manual controls, anticipating a driverless car-filled future. Second, Rolls-Royce doesn’t actually have any commercial power source in mind for the car yet.
As it’s decades from making its debut (if ever), the UK ultra luxury car company, a subsidiary of BMW since 1998, has got some time to figure out whether the Vision Next 100 will be powered by hydrogen, electricity, diesel, or banana peels. Clearly, the concept still has a long way to go before it’s road ready.
