BREAKING: Tinubu unveils 2025 budget, allocates N4.91tn for defence, security
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the 10th National Assembly in Abuja, earmarking a significant N4.91 trillion for defence and security.
The budget, titled “The Restoration Budget: Securing Peace, Building Prosperity,” also allocates N4.06 trillion for infrastructure, N2.48 trillion for health, and N3.5 trillion for education.
Highlighting the government’s priorities, Tinubu said, “The highlight of the 2025 budget allocations: Defense and security, N4.91tn. Infrastructure, N4.06tn. Health, N2.48tn. Education, N3.5tn.”
Addressing the rationale behind the allocations, Tinubu explained, “As we embark on implementing the 2025 budget, our steps are deliberate, our decisions resolute, and our priorities are clear. This budget reflects a renewed commitment to strengthening the foundation of a robust economy.”

He emphasized that security is at the heart of national progress, stating, “Security is the foundation of all progress. We have significantly increased the funding for the military, paramilitary, and our police forces to secure the nation, protect our borders, and consolidate government control over every inch of our national territory.”
Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration is committed to equipping security forces with modern tools and technology, emphasizing the need to maintain high morale among personnel.
“Boosting the morale of our men and women in the armed forces will remain our government’s top priority,” he said. “The officers, men, and women of our Armed Forces and the Nigerian Police Force are the shield and protectors of our nation. Our administration will continue to empower them to defeat insurgency, banditry, and threats to our sovereignty.”
This strategic allocation underscores the government’s focus on addressing Nigeria’s security challenges while investing in critical sectors to drive growth and prosperity.
