Buhari names Ben Akabueze, DG Budget Office

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday effected a minor shuffle in the Budget Office with a fresh assignment handed down Ben Akabueze as the new Director General (DG). Akabueze, until his recent appointment, was Buhari’s Special Adviser on National Planning.

The shuffle was contained in a statement released and signed on Thursday by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity.

Akabueze swaps office with Mr. Tijani Muhammed Abdullahi who until the recent shake-up was DG, Budget Office. Thus, the latter would now serve as Special Adviser to the President on Planning.

The statement by Mr. Femi Adesina,  also noted that both Akabueze and Abdullahi joined the Ministry of Budget and National Planning in February this year.

Their redeployment, the statement added, was “part of an ongoing exercise aimed at further repositioning the Ministry to effectively deliver on its core mandate.”
