Amid unending calls for their sack, Buratai says service chiefs haven’t disappointed Buhari, Nigerians

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, delivered a resolute message against those advocating for Nigeria’s division, labeling them as “dreamers” and affirming Nigeria’s enduring unity.

Speaking at the 60th birthday celebration of the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude, in Kuta, Osun State on Sunday, Buratai emphasized the need for national cohesion and development.

In his address, Buratai commended Oba Oyelude as a unifying figure in Nigeria, praising his efforts to foster goodwill among various ethnic groups across the country. He dismissed the notion of Nigeria’s breakup, urging dissenters to reconsider their stance and jokingly suggesting they relocate their envisioned territories to the Atlantic Ocean.

“Nigeria is indivisible. Those who wish to divide the country must understand that they cannot do so within our national borders. The scars of our civil war remind us that disunity only leads to devastation,” Buratai asserted, underscoring the importance of maintaining Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

Highlighting the diverse demographics present at the event, Buratai emphasized the interconnectedness of Nigeria’s ethnic groups, citing examples of Hausas, Yorubas, and Igbos residing harmoniously across different regions. He cautioned against allowing political differences to undermine the country’s unity and sovereignty.

“We must prioritize peace and development over divisive rhetoric. Nigeria’s progress hinges on our collective commitment to unity and stability,” Buratai urged, urging Nigerians to contribute positively towards national development.

In his own address, Oba Oyelude reiterated his dedication to promoting unity and progress in Nigeria, calling on all well-meaning citizens to join efforts aimed at fostering a stronger, more cohesive nation.

The event, attended by notable dignitaries including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, underscored the importance of solidarity and collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
