Bus driver on the run after spraying LASTMA officer with fire in Lagos (VIDEO)
A shocking incident unfolded in the Mile 2 area of Lagos on Tuesday when a commercial driver allegedly attacked and injured an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The driver, who is currently on the run, was intercepted by LASTMA operatives for violating traffic regulations.
According to a press statement issued on Tuesday by Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson for LASTMA, the driver’s Volkswagen T4 commercial bus, with license plate LSD 355 CK, was stopped in the Cele inward Mile 2 area for breaking traffic laws.

However, instead of cooperating, the driver and his conductor became hostile, pouring petrol on the officers and setting the bus ablaze in a desperate bid to evade arrest.
“The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has been made aware of a distressing video showing the driver… setting both his vehicle and LASTMA officers ablaze,” Taofiq stated.
The injured officer, who sustained severe burns, was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
LASTMA has vowed to take decisive action against the driver and his assistant, emphasizing that violence and intimidation will not be tolerated.
“The agency strongly urges all commercial and other drivers to comply fully with traffic regulations and respect the authority of LASTMA personnel,” Taofiq stressed.
