Shekarau shoots down defection reports, says ‘I still consulting’

A former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau has stated that he would not be intimidated to make any refunds concerning the N950 million allegedly naira shared to PDP stalwarts in the state, before the 2015 general elections because he did not get anything.

He challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to produce whoever said he collected money to come out and say so in public.

Shekarau, who is also a former minister for Education stated this soon after his release from EFCC custody, explaining that he was picked up by the anti graft agency because some one mentioned his name as having shared in the money.

He said:  “I told the EFCC that even if it is one naira that I was accused of collecting, I will not pay until it is proved.

“Whoever gives me the money should come out and explain where, when and how he gave it to me and anything short of that, I am ready to stay with the EFCC for years until the allegation is proved.”

He also said that his residence had been searched but nothing incriminating was found, and that he believed the development was part of what he has to face as a politician.
