Chelsea take first-leg win in Conference League play-off

Premier League club Chelsea defeated Servette 2-0 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday night.

The game played at Stamford Bridge saw Christopher Nkunku opened scoring with a penalty in second half before Noni Madueke doubled their lead.

The Blues had five shots on target during the course of the match, while the visitors had eight and will be rueing some bad misses.

It was Enzo Maresca’s first win as Chelsea boss.

Chelsea will travel to Geneva in Switzerland for the return leg against Servette to hold next Thursday, 29 August 2024.

Should they advance they will then go into the group stage draw on 30th August and will kick-off in the competition proper on 3 October.
