Rise of killer robots unstoppable, Microsoft president warns

A Chinese company known as UBTech Robotics is preparing to mass produce its humanoid robots in large quantities by the end of this year in order to deal with the labor shortage.

The company’s goal is to deliver 500–1,000 Walker S Series industrial humanoid robots as other tech firms also intend to mass-produce these humans-like devices.

In the second quarter of this year, UBTech also intends to introduce the Walker S2, a “lighter and stronger version” of its current humanoid robot.

In related news, China hopes to further its artificial intelligence goals by hosting the first foot race between humans and humanoid robots in April.

Over 100 robotics enterprises in Beijing’s E-Town, which accounts for roughly half of the city’s robotics industry output, will participate in the half-marathon.

It is anticipated that almost 12,000 people will participate, including human runners and humanoid robots. Businesses, research organizations, and international universities are expected to join the race.
