Court adjourns Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suit against Akpabio, others to March 25
Justice Obiora Egwatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday adjourned the suit filed by the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to March 25, 2025.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had approached the court to restrain the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges from proceeding with an investigation against her alleged misconduct pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.
The judge on March 4 granted all the prayers in Akpoti-Uduaghan’s motion, including an order declaring any action taken during the pendency of the suit as null, void and of no effect whatsoever.
The Clerk of the National Assembly and the Senate were listed as defendants in the motion ex-parte marked FHC/ABJ/CS/384/2025.
Other defendants are the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Neda Imasuem, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Code of Conduct.
However, the Senate on Thursday suspended the senator for six months after considering the committee’s report.

After reviewing the affidavits, Justice Egwatu confirmed that all processes had been duly served on the defendants
Following this confirmation, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, counsel for the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, requested an adjournment to allow for the harmonization of all legal processes.
This request was supported by the other counsels present, who emphasized that this would facilitate an accelerated hearing when the matter resumes.
Justice Egwatu adjourned the case till March 25.
He also directed that all relevant legal processes must be properly served on the parties before the next hearing date.
