The Lagos State High Court on Friday, granted permission to all the members of the State House of Assembly to join as parties in the suit filed by Mudashiru Obasa, against his impeachment as Speaker

Justice Yetunde Pinheiro who delivered the ruling during the hearing of the suit filed by the embattled Obasa, gave the order after hearing two applications filed by some members of the House seeking to be joined in the proceedings.

The lawmakers, through their lawyers, Olu Daramola and Dada Awosika, had requested to be parties to the suit after they were not initially listed as defendants.

Obasa had approached the court to challenge his removal in absentia by 36 of his colleagues on January 13, but the application which was filed by his lawyer, Chief Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), had failed to include all the lawmakers as defendants.

“As the applicant’s counsel himself has admitted, that application has not been served on all parties, I’ll defer same pending compliance with the court’s rules,” said Justice Pinheiro, before adjourning to March 7 to hear all pending applications in the matter.
