Court orders forfeiture of $378,000, exotic car to Nigerian govt
Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, ordered the temporary forfeiture of $378, 000 dollars and a Mercedes Benz GLS 600 to the Federal Government.
The judge made the order after the counsel for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Osuobeni Akponimisingha, moved a motion ex-parte to that effect.
He also directed the commission to publish the notice in a national daily for the interested person(s) to show cause why the cash and the vehicle should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The judge adjourned the matter till February 20 for the report of compliance.

The ICPC had in its application alleged that the money and the vehicle were proceeds of unlawful activities.
The assets were linked to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fides Et Ratio Academy Limited, Paul Chukwuma.
The trio of Chukwuma, Prof. Klaus Stierstorfer, and Fides Et Ratio Academy Limited were listed as defendants in the motion ex-parte marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1982/V/2024 and filed by the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu (SAN).
Aliyu had in the motion sought an order temporarily forfeiting the $378,000 restricted vide Post No Debit Order placed in the Zenith Bank Account of Fides Et Ratio Academy Limited-5074703084.
He also sought an order temporarily forfeiting the vehicle to the federal government.
