Court rules in favour of Dr Dre in legal suit against former therapist
A Los Angeles judge has quashed the restraining order initially granted to the former therapist of American music producer Andre Young aka Dr Dre over fears for his safety.
Citing concerns about his safety following what he called “menacing” text messages from the rapper and versatile producer, the therapist, identified as Dr. Sophy, had earlier requested a permanent restraining order in court against Dr. Dre.
During his Tuesday court appearance, Sophy claimed that Dre’s texts, which contained derogatory remarks like “You’re a piece of s***,” were frightening and made him worry about his safety.

He also claimed that Dre’s resentment of him was a result of previous marriage counseling sessions he had performed for Dre and his ex-wife Nicole before their well-publicized divorce.
Dr. Sophy was physically present during the hearing, but Dre participated virtually through Zoom. Dre defended himself by admitting to sending the messages but claiming they were merely frustrated outbursts and not actual threats of harm.
In the end, the judge decided in favor of Dre, dismissing the restraining order and enabling Dre to get back in touch if he so chooses. The judge found that the texts, despite their intensity, did not qualify as threats of violence.
