70 feared dead in India after lightning strike

After interacting with the Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its strike, till its next meeting with the Speaker on July 14.

The group took the decision in a meeting on Tuesday between resident doctors and other stakeholders, organised by the Speaker in Abuja.

They resolved to reconvene in three weeks to review progress made in the implementation of agreements reached in the meeting.

This is coming after the Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, in a circular released Tuesday, ordered the replacement of all striking resident doctors in the various government teaching hospitals.

The statement was later repudiated by a top official of the Ministry who later said that the Minister did not mean that the striking doctors had been sacked as reported in the media.
