Edo Assembly passes 2025 budget, raises it by N70bn

The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday passed the state 2025 budget of N675 billion.

This followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Budget and Project Monitoring presented by the chairman, Sunday Fada, at the plenary in Benin City.

In his presentation, Fada said the budget comprised N225 billion in recurrent expenditure and N451 billion in capital expenditure.

He added that the committee increased the budgetary allocation to enable Governor Monday Okpebholo to carry out his five-point agenda in the state.

The House at the Committee of Supply, considered the budget clause by clause and subsequently, approved the increase from N605.7 billion to N675 billion.

The Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku, thereafter directed the Clerk, Mr. Yahaya Omogbai, to forward clean copies of the budget to the governor for his assent.
