Edo governor suspends revenue collection, orders arrests of defaulters
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced an indefinite halt to all revenue collection activities across the state, particularly in motor parks and other revenue-generating areas.
This suspension will remain in place until further notice, with the governor vowing to review the processes and determine the next steps.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo emphasized that any individual found collecting state revenues during this suspension would face arrest. The governor directed the State Commissioner of Police to ensure enforcement of this directive.

“The collection of revenues in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the State Government will be arrested,” the statement read.
It further clarified that the Commissioner of Police had been ordered to apprehend anyone who disregards the suspension and continues to collect revenues on the state’s behalf.
“The Governor will soon address the issues and concerns raised and issue new directives. Until then, no one is authorized to collect revenues on behalf of the State Government,” the statement concluded.
