EFCC arrests ex-NHIS boss, Usman Yusuf, for alleged contract fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prof. Usman Yusuf, for alleged contract fraud.
Yusuf was arrested by EFCC operatives on Wednesday night for allegedly awarding contracts to family members while in office.
The commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development to journalists in Abuja.
The ex-NHIS chief was also accused of inflating the agency’s ICT budget from N4.975 billion to N8.7 billion.
He will be arraigned in court on Thursday.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Yusuf as NHIS chief over alleged mismanagement of N919 million in July 2019.
