EFCC raids Sokoto INEC office, grills senior staff
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday raided the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Sokoto State.
The Commission was said to have cordoned- off the office. Some principal officers of the INEC were also taken away for questioning.
The raid is suspected to be in connection with a petition written by ad hoc staff deployed for this year’s general elections, alleging diversion and non-payment of allowances.

The Head of the EFCC, Sokoto Zonal Office, Abdullahi Lawal, confirmed the raid.
He said: “Yes, it is true we visited the INEC office. This was based on petitions before us. Some INEC principal officers were invited, and they are still with us for questioning.
“As it is right now, I cannot comment beyond this because the investigation is still going on.”
