EgyptAir crash: French, Italian firms contracted to help search for black box
As the search to find clues that may lead to determine the actual cause of the ill-fated EgyptAir plane which plunged into the Mediterranean Sea intensifies, Egypt has contracted a French and an Italian firm to help in finding the planes black boxes.
The news was revealed by the airline’s chairman on Wednesday following the crash on May 19th of the EgyptAir flight 804 which had 69 people on board.
Nearly a week later, investigators still have no clear picture of the plane’s final moments but that may change soon as the chairman of EgyptAir Safwat Moslem said the contracted companies were able to search at a depth of 3,000 metres although he did not mention the name of the companies involved.
The black box recorders, which could explain what brought down the Paris-to-Cairo flight are believed to be lying in up to 3,000 metres of water in the Mediterranean Sea.
