England beat Switzerland on penalties to reach Euro semis
The Three Lions of England have advanced to the semifinal of the European Championship after beating Switzerland on penalties on Saturday night.
Both sides had played a 1-1 draw after extra time, with Bukayo Saka scoring an 80th-minute equaliser for England after Breel Embolo opened scoring for the Swiss.
In the shootout, Manuel Akanji failed to convert the first kick for Switzerland, while Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the winning penalty as England scaled 5-3.

“It is what we have practiced. When the gaffer said I was taking one, I enjoy it and I practice it – I knew I had to just execute it. All five penalties from us were great,” said Alexander-Arnold
England will now face Netherlands or Turkey – who play each other later tonight in another quarter-final clash – in the semi-final on Wednesday as Dortmund.
England, France, and Spain are in the last four. Netherlands or Turkey to fill in the final spot.
