Ex-NYSC DG, Tsiga, regains freedom 55 days after abduction

The former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig,-Gen Maharazu Tsiga (retd), has regained freedom from bandits.

A family member of the ex-NYSC chief, Malam Suleiman Tsiga confirmed the news to journalists on Wednesday in Katsina.

He said Tsiga was released on Wednesday and receiving medical attention at an undisclosed location in the state.

The ex-NYSC DG was abducted alongside an unspecified number of people at his residence in Tsiga, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State on February 6.

The abductors reportedly demanded N250 million for his release but later reduced it to N50 million.

However, the victim’s relative did not disclose if a ransom was paid before he was released.
