’Ex-President Jonathan, other Nigerian misrulers should rot in jail’ —Sowore

Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, believes former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, as well as all other former Nigerian leaders who misruled the country should rot in jail.

Sowore who made the assertion in a post on his X page on Wednesday, while reacting to comments credited to Jonathan where he reportedly proposed two buildings in Abuja where pictures of former leaders who contributed to Nigeria’s current problems be displayed to name and shame them, said the former president deserves to rot in jail along with others who mismanaged the country.

The former President had, while speaking at the book launch of former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, in Abuja on Tuesday, criticised Nigerians for tolerating bad behaviour from political leaders.

“We, Nigerians, celebrate the wrong thing. And I believe one day, the country will get to the level where people will reject bad behaviour. And when we get to the level that we reject bad behaviour, this issue will not happen again,” he had said.

“Maybe one day, we will have two big buildings in Abuja where we will put pictures of people, whether dead or alive, who have messed up this country so that their grandchildren will know their forefathers were part of Nigeria’s problems,” he had added.

He further argued that such an initiative would ensure their descendants recognise the negative roles their forefathers played in Nigeria’s history.

However, Sowore, in his post, noted that what Jonathan and all the former misrulers deserve is not buildings to display their pictures to name and shame them but jail where they will rot for all they did against Nigerians.

“Sorry, Goodluck Jonathan, all these former Nigerian misrulers, including yourself, don’t even deserve a building to name and shame you all,” the convener of #RevolutionNow wrote.

“You all deserve to rot in jail for what you all did against the people of this country, Nigeria.
