Flamingos begin W’Cup campaign with thrashing of New Zealand
Nigeria U-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos have kicked off their FIFA World Cup campaign with an incredible 4-1 thrashing of New Zealand.
The game played on Thursday night in Santiago saw the Nigerian girls dominate the game, and begin the tournament at the top of Group A.
Shakirat Moshood opened scoring in the second minute, Taiwo Adegoke added Nigeria’s second in the 13the minute before Faridat Abdulwahab made it 3-0 on 28 minutes.

The Nigerian girls, led by coach Bankole Olowookere, continued their dominance in the second half as Taiwo Afolabi made it 4-0 on 55 minutes.
While Nigeria cruised, New Zealand pulled one back on the hour mark, with Hannah Saxon scoring the consolation for the Zealanders.
Up next for Flamingos is their second clash of the tournament against Ecuador on October 19, before they face hosts Dominican Republic on October 23.
