The Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has approved the immediate suspension of the Village Head of Esuk Utan, Chief Okon Archibong, with his council members.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Nsa Gil, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Calabar.

The suspension followed petitions to the governor on the alleged misuse of office by the traditional ruler and his council members.

Governor Otu directed the Calabar Municipal Traditional Rulers Council to investigate the allegations against the village head and make recommendations.

“The Obutong Clan Council is mandated to set up a five-man committee to manage the affairs of Esuk Utan Village pending the outcome of the investigation.”
