Gunmen kidnap over 20 medical students in Benue
A devastating incident has unfolded in Benue State, where a group of gunmen has kidnapped more than 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer.
The students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were en route to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu when they were ambushed.
The abduction occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of the state on Thursday, leaving the academic community in shock.

Benue State Police Command spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, has confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation was underway.
“We received the report of kidnapping between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and we have launched an investigation into the matter,” Anene stated.
The kidnapping of these students has raised concerns about the safety of educational travelers and the growing insecurity in the region.
