Harrysong counters Apostle Lazarus, says gospel singers should charge fees to perform at church events

Talented Nigerian R&B singer Harrison Okiri, aka Harrysong, has taken to social media to counter Apostle Lazarus for kicking against gospel artistes charging money to minister in churches.

Recall that in a video shared on social media, the clergyman claimed that worship gatherings in Nigeria have turned into performances because the visiting artistes now demand such high fees.

He said, ”Worship meetings in Nigeria have now become performances. Someone has charged N5 million to come here to sing. He will roll on the floor and cry. He is doing his business. He will play drummer, saxophonists, He will play keyboardist. If he doesn’t charge, how will he pay them?

‘‘We have been so far from his presence (of God) we don’t know he supplies needs. That question is a question of somebody who doesn’t know God. the life we have been called to in ministry is of daily supply. We are to look up to him for the next supply.

‘‘The reason why you are why you are saying how he will pay people is because those people who are paying the keyboard are hiringins and not ministers. If we are Ministers, God supplies our needs”. Apostle Lazarus concluded.

In response to the clergy’s comments, Harrysong contended that if churches are allowed to support and compensate their pastors, then why should it be considered a “sin” for a church to pay visiting artistes.

‘‘That some gospel artistes have monetised their gifts and collect huge amount of money for ministration, ‘‘IT IS THE RESULT OF THE FAILURE OF THE CHURCH’’.

‘‘Some pastors/overseas are too selfish, if the church pays and takes care of you for preaching, why is it a sin for the church to pay me for singing?” Harrysong asked in reply.
