Head of Nigeria’s intelligence agency, Ahmed Abubakar, resigns
The Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, has resigned from the position.
He tendered his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu on Saturday in Abuja.
However, no reason has been given for Abubakar’s resignation as head of the country’s intelligence agency.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Abubakar as NIA DG on January 11, 2018.
The former president extended Abubakar’s tenure in the agency on December 31, 2021.
He also served as Senior Special Assistant (SSAP) on Foreign Affairs/International Relations to the President before his appointment as head of the NIA.
