The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has delivered sensitive electoral materials to Ondo State ahead of this weekend’s governorship election in the state.

The commission confirmed the news in a post on its X handle on Monday.

It wrote: “Breaking News!!!

“Sensitive materials for the Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday 16th November 2024 have arrived in Akure, the State capital, and received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“The materials were conveyed to Akure by the Nigerian Air Force.

“#OndoDecides2024.”

The INEC said the early delivery of the materials was in fulfilment of its promise to improve logistics and result management in the election.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said during an assessment tour of the commission’s office in Ondo State last week the body had learnt a lot of lessons in the past and would use them to improve the conduct of future elections in the country.

He said: “There are two challenges; the first one is logistics for election so that polling units can open promptly on the election day.

“The second is result management, and my assurance to voters in Ondo State is that they are going to see fast improvement in these two processes.”
