Kano board suspends actress over indecent dressing, vulgar content
The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended popular Kannywood actress and producer, Samha M. Inuwa, over alleged indecent dressing and posting vulgar contents on social media amongst other infractions.
In a statement issued in Saturday by the board’s Information Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the actress was suspended after several warnings, both written and verbal, were ignored by her.
Sulaiman added that apart from the suspension which will last for one year, the board also revoked Samha’s operating license and would sanction any film producer who features her in any movie for the period of the suspension.
Sulaiman said the board was forced to take the decision after Samha had been repeatedly warned about her crude dressing and vulgar displays, but she continued to flout the board’s regulations and as such the board had resolved to suspend her.
Sulaiman stated that the suspension of Samha which is with immediate effect, came in response to multiple complaints the board received from the public and concerned citizens in Kano State regarding the actress’ conducts that violate the board’s regulations.

“The Kano State Censorship Board is empowered by law to ensure that all videos, writings, and other forms of expression align with the state’s religion, culture, norms, and values,” Sulaiman explained.
“The board has also revoked her liaison and stopped censoring any films in which she appears. This suspension is part of the ongoing board’s efforts to maintain moral standards in Kannywood Film industry and ensure all board’s rules and regulations are followed.
“In addition to the suspension, the board had also revoked Samha’s operating licences and halted the censorship of any films featuring the actress.
“The suspension is in fulfillment of the new leadership of the board under Abba Al-Mustapha to bring back sanity into the Hausa filmmaking industry,” Sulaiman said.
