Kano businessman’s daughter abducted by gunmen after payment of N8m ransom
A prominent businessman from Kano, Alhaji Auwal, has had his daughter, Zainab, kidnapped by gunmen who invaded his residence in Garo town, Kabo Local Government Area. The attackers reportedly collected ₦8 million from the family before taking the young woman.
The incident occurred early on Sunday when about 10 armed assailants stormed the businessman’s home. According to an anonymous source, the kidnappers broke down a door to gain entry to the residence.
“Three of them were armed with guns, while the remaining seven carried other weapons. They gathered the entire family in one place, creating an atmosphere of fear and panic,” the source explained.
In a desperate plea, Alhaji Auwal begged the gunmen to release his family, offering to meet their demands for money. The gunmen accepted the sum of ₦8 million but still proceeded to abduct the family’s eldest daughter, a secondary school graduate.
“Despite receiving the money, the assailants abducted the family’s eldest daughter before fleeing the scene,” the source said, adding that the whereabouts of Zainab remain unknown, with no communication from the kidnappers since the incident.

This abduction comes just two days after the kidnapping and subsequent murder of Atiku Mu’azu, a former Gombe State Permanent Secretary and Chairman of the Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service, who was also abducted in Kano after the payment of a ₦10 million ransom.
The recent spate of kidnappings has left residents of Kano in shock and heightened fear.
