Kano govt budgets N2.5bn for mass wedding in 2025
The Kano State Government has budgeted a whopping sum of N2.5 billion for mass wedding exercises which will hold quarterly across the 44 local government areas of the state in 2025.
The State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Shanono who disclosed this while presenting the breakdown of the State’s 2025 budget passed into law by the State House of Assembly on Friday, said the mass wedding initiative wa part of the “government’s broader plan to spend N91.32bn in the governance and service delivery sector for various programmes and services toward fostering social welfare and development.”

In a statement to that effect on Saturday, Shanono explained that the commitment of the state government to mass weddings was to promote responsibility, openness, and human rights while ensuring a fair society that supports sustainable growth and improves citizens’ living standards.
The Commissioner noted that the government had also earmarked allocations within the budget, including N1,000,000,000 for Ramadan feeding, N955,000,000 for a manpower statistics survey, a general household survey, and out-of-school children statistics.
