An unspecified number of people were reportedly killed on Wednesday morning when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jet targeting Lakurawa terrorists mistakenly bombed two communities in the Silame local government area of Sokoto State.

Several others were injured when the Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa villages were hit at about 7:00 a.m.

The chairman of Silame LGA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, confirmed the incident to journalists.

He described the incident as unfortunate.

The chairman, however, said it was too early to confirm the number of victims of the incident.

“The villagers were sitting peacefully when the bombs started dropping on the communities. They were innocent and peace-loving people without criminal record,” Daftarana stated.
