Man arraigned for allegedly stabbing neighbour over electricity bill in Kano

On Wednesday, police arraigned a 29-year-old man, Abduljabar Nura, at the Sharia Court in Kano State for allegedly stabbing his neighbour over electricity bill.

He was charged with causing grievous hurt.

When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in the Goron Dutse Correctional Centre in Kano till April 15 for sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, told the court that Haruna Kasim, the complainant, reported the matter at the Fagge Police Station on February 28.

He alleged that the defendant and Kasim had an altercation over an electricity bill.

The prosecutor added that the defendant stabbed the complainant in the back with a pair of scissors.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened the provisions of Sections 158 and 165 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State.
