Man docked for alleged illegal possession of firearms in Oyo
Police on Tuesday arraigned a 40-year-old man, Gafaru Ogundiran, at the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for alleged illegal possession of firearms.
Ogundiran, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Musibau Lawal, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on November 7 in the Saki area of the state.
Lawal said the defendant was found with seven Dane guns, one pistol, and four live cartridges.

He added that the defendant did not explain how he got the firearms satisfactorily.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 417 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mr. Olaolu Olanipekun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till January 21, 2025, for a hearing.
