A cook, Daniel Okorie who resides in the Iyana-Ishasi axis of Lagos State has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police command for allegedly stabbing his friend Onyeka Jackson to death.
Jackson allegedly told him  to report himself (Okorie)t o the police.
Reports say Okorie who works in the Ijanikin area of Lagos State was wanted by the police for beating up a female customer a week before he killed his friend as the woman he assaulted reported the case to the police.
Following the report, the police swung into action by launching a manhunt for him, but Okorie was said to have fled his place of work when the police came calling, his friend Jackson was arrested instead.
Jackson was said to have been released later on and he decided to encounter Okorie by going to his rented apartment to tell him to report himself to the police. But Okorie felt infuriated by his friends comments and thinking that Jackson had reported him to the police, he reportedly stabbed Jackson in the neck with a knife.
Jackson was reportedly rushed to a nearby private hospital drenched in his own blood where he was reported dead on arrival.
But an unrepentant Okorie who is being held at the State Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba, claims he didn’t kill Jackson for going to the station.
Recounting his own side of the story, Okorie said; “Some minutes after I got home, Onyeka (Jackson) came to my house and started hitting my door. We had a disagreement in our place of work. I got a knife to threaten him to leave my house. I did not know the knife would hit him. I did not mean to kill him.”
According to SP Dolapo Badmos, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the incident, Jackson’s body has been deposited at the Badagry morgue.
“There was a fight between the friends and Jackson was stabbed to death. The suspect has been arrested and the exhibit has also been recovered. The corpse was deposited at the morgue of the Badagry General Hospital for an autopsy. Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing.” She said.
