MOHBAD’S DEATH: Court acquits Naira Marley, Sammy Larry, Primeboy; nurse to face trial
The Magistrate Court sitting in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos State, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, acquitted Naira Marley in the case involving the death of his former label signee, Mohbad.
The ruling which now frees Naira Marley from the case was issued in a new legal advise by the Directorate of Public Prosecution, read and implemented by Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje.
Reports state that Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde, Owodunni Ibrahim, aka Primeboy, and music promoter Samson Balogun, better known as Sam Larry, have also been acquited.
But according to the DPP, Mohbad’s friend Ayobami Sadiq and Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who gave him a series of injections, will face charges of reckless and negligent acts in violation of Section 251(e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol.3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
This comes days after Very Dark Man, claimed that Naira Marley owes his late label signee Mohbad a substantial amount of money.
Very Dark Man, who made the allegation during a live-stream session on TikTok, said that Naira Marley admitted that he owed Mohbad money before his sudden death.

He stated further that he is bothered that Naira Marley is not coming out to defend himself in public since he has evidence and the business side of his dealings with Mohbad.
“What is crazy is that the guy has his own evidence, and I asked Naira Marley, ‘Why are you not coming to the public? Sit down, show them your own evidence and the business side of everything.
‘‘He clearly owed the boy some money, and he told me how much he owed him and it wasn’t small money. He told me how much he was meant to give the boy and that caused their problem.” VDM said.
Naira Marley and his former signee had a really tense relationship, which Very Dark Man revealed started when Mohbad sought to switch managers.
“He said he signed Mohbad and Mohbad started taking gigs outside and wasn’t paying the label. His wanting to change his manager was the genesis of the whole problem,” he added.
