NDLEA arrests gunrunners smuggling weapons to bandits in Zamfara
Three suspected gunrunners who were allegedly smuggling weapons and ammunition to bandits in Zamfara State have been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The suspects were reportedly arrested on Tuesday in the Tsafe local government area of the state during a stop and search operation by the agency who stopped the vehicle they were traveling in.
Security expert, Zagazola Makama who shared the news of the arrest of the suspects on his X page on Wednesday, wrote:
‘Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have intercepted and arrested suspected arms couriers attempting to transport live ammunition to bandits.
“The suspects were apprehended while trying to evade security checks. The operation, carried out as part of intensified efforts to curb the supply of arms and illicit substances to criminal elements, led to the recovery of live rounds of ammunition hidden in their vehicle.
“The suspects were found in possession of a significant quantity of ammunition, which they intended to deliver to armed groups.’
