The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Justin Madugu as the interim head coach for the senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons.

The football house said the coach will stay in charge of the ladies pending the appointment of a substantive head coach for the team.

The NFF took the decision following the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee.

Ripples Nigeria reported earlier this month that the former coach of the Nigeria women, Randy Waldrum, had resigned from the post.

The Jamaican gaffer cited his wife’s health issues as reason for his resignation.

Waldrum noted that quitting now was a good time as there would be enough time to get his replacement before the next team engagement.

Madugu was one of the assistants to Waldrum, and he will work together with other technical crew members.

The Super Falcons’ next big competition is the Women Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) billed to take place in Morocco in the summer of next year.
