NGX: Equities market begins week on high as investors gain N36bn
The equities market began the week on Monday August 26, 2024 on positive note as investors gained N36bn at the end of trading session.
This follows an increase in the share prices of stocks like Eterna, Okomuoil, and Rtbriscoe amongst others on the trading floor.
After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization increased to N55.166 trillion from N55.129 trillion recorded by the bourse on Friday, August 23, 2024.
The All-Share Index (ASI) also increased to 96,037.28 from 95,973.45 recorded the previous trading day.

The market breadth was positive as 26 stocks advanced and 18 stocks declined, while 74 stocks remained unchanged in 9,242 deals.
Eterna, Okomuoil and Rtbriscoe led other gainers with 10%, 9.99% and 9.96% growth each in share prices to close at N23.10, N379.80, and N2.98 from the previous prices of N21.00, N345.30, and N2.71 per share.
On the flip side, TRANSPOWER, ABBEYBDS and UCAP led other price decliners as they shed 9.99%, 9.69%, 8.35% each to close at N335.20, N2.33 and N18.10 from the initial prices of N372.40, N2.58, and N19.75 per share.
On the volume index, VERITASKAP led trading with 67m shares valued at N716mn in 212 deals followed by JAPAULGOLD which traded 23m shares in 260 deals valued at N340mn
FCMB traded 20m shares valued at N12mn in 124 deals.
On the value index ZENITHBANK recorded the highest value for the day trading stocks worth N503mn in 406 deals followed by GTCO which traded equities worth N397mn in 315 deals.
OANDO traded shares valued at N341mn in 325 deals.
