According to a statement issued on Wednesday by NIS Spokesman, DCI Kenneth Udo, the officer is currently facing arraignment before a Federal High Court in Lagos. The Service has initiated internal processes and placed Michael under suspension since May 2024, pending the court’s determination of his culpability or otherwise.

“The Service, therefore, fully supports the court proceedings aimed at determining the level of his culpability.

“Nigeria Immigration Service awaits the court judgement before making further comments on this to avoid subjudice.”

The NIS has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding discipline and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards criminality within its ranks.

“The Service reaffirms its commitment to excellent service delivery, discipline, and zero tolerance for criminality and will not hesitate to sanction any officer whose conduct is contrary to these ideals,” the statement reads.

By suspending the officer and supporting the court proceedings, the Service demonstrates its dedication to ensuring that its personnel adhere to the highest standards of integrity.
