NUPENG vows to protect Dangote Refinery from ‘economic saboteurs’
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has pledged to deploy its full resources and might to safeguard the Dangote Refinery against attempts by “economic saboteurs” to hinder its operations.
This comes as the refinery begins rolling out premium motor spirit (PMS)also known as petrol to the Nigerian market.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-President of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company, NUPENG General Secretary, Comrade Afolabi Olawale, expressed the union’s excitement about the opportunities the refinery presents for employment, socio-economic prosperity, and national growth.

However, Olawale also acknowledged the potential threats to the refinery’s success, stating, “We are not unmindful of the plots and schemes of sworn enemies of the masses and nation’s economic saboteurs to derail the wheel of progress of this wonderful trailblazing train.”
NUPENG has vowed to resist any attempts to frustrate the refinery’s optimal performance, ensuring it meets local demands for petroleum products. Olawale emphasized, “As NUPENG, we pledge to make available all our might and resources to defend and protect this beautiful African pride.”
The union’s commitment to protecting the refinery underscores its dedication to supporting Nigeria’s economic progress and the well-being of its workers.
