Obasa, Meranda, APC leaders meet to resolve Lagos Assembly crisis
The embattled speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, and his rival, Mudashiru Obasa, met with the lawmakers at the parliament on Monday.
The Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Cornelius Ojelabi, and other party leaders in the state were also at the meeting, which took place before the commencement of the plenary at the Assembly Complex in Ikeja.
Obasa and Meranda are laying claim to the House’s speakership seat.

This followed the former’s impeachment by alleged corruption and abuse of office by lawmakers on January 13.
The development had since thrown the House into a crisis, with Obasa refusing to accept his sack by the lawmakers in good faith.
Unconfirmed reports revealed over the weekend that the duo would be prevailed upon to step aside from the seat at Monday’s meeting.
