The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that one person died and two others were missing in Tuesday evening’s flood in Oyo State.

The NEMA South-West Coordinator, Kadir Olanrewaju, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday while assessing the level of damage at the scene of the incident around the Joyce-B/Mobil area of Ibadan.

A heavy downpour across some areas within the state capital affected some residential areas and destroyed properties on Tuesday.

Olanrewaju attributed the flooding to improper channelisation of drainage in the area.

He said: “People need to move away from this place because if we have another rain, the flood will be devastating; you can see that the lower parts of most of the buildings and the fences are weak.”
