Passengers stranded as another train derails in Abuja

An Abuja-Kaduna passenger train on Wednesday derailed at Asha Station in the nation’s capital with many passengers stranded.

The incident occurred 11 days after another passenger train derailed on the route leading to the Jere area of Kaduna State.

The spokesman for the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Yakub Mahmoud, confirmed the incident to journalists in Abuja.

He said the corporation would issue a formal statement on the incident in due course.
